Who this workshop is for & what you'll get out of it

In this one-hour workshop, Laura Portwood-Stacer will share her time-tested method for editing your own scholarly book. This workshop welcomes first-time book writers as well as those who are seeking a better process for writing their next book.

Topics covered include:

  • The four pillars of scholarly writing that every author should know how to evaluate in their work
  • When substantial revision should take place in the publication process (it's not just one time before initial submission)
  • The three-phase cycle writers should apply in each round of revision
  • The most common areas where scholarly texts require revision

This workshop is about publishing academic books with university presses and other scholarly publishers. However, the method taught in this workshop can be applied to other scholarly manuscripts beyond books. Scholars working on articles, book chapters, dissertations, and conference papers can also use the method and are very welcome to attend.
