Who this workshop is for & what you'll get out of it

In this one-hour workshop, Laura Portwood-Stacer will share her time-tested tips for connecting with acquiring editors at scholarly presses, whether you're writing your first book or building on past academic publishing experiences in hopes of taking more control over the process this time around.

This workshop will cover:

  • how and when to approach editors to discuss your book project
  • how to write a query email that actually gets a response
  • tips on navigating conversations at academic conferences
  • questions you should be asking editors when deciding whether you want to publish with their press
  • how and when to follow up

This workshop is for scholars hoping to publish an academic book with a university press or other scholarly publisher. If you're not writing a scholarly book or hoping to publish with a scholarly press, this probably isn't the best workshop for you.
